Just for your delectation I spent a good 20 minutes one sunny Sunday morning trying to recreate the ‘Tunic G’ garment shot from the ‘Stylish Dress Book’. Can you spot any differences?!

I do know why they have the model in grey underthings, it’s so jolly tricky to capture the beauty of black. I do not know why she’s doing the weird cutlery thing, that spoon and her hand are at very odd angles.

A few close-ups for you?

I did have to tinker with the gathers. I had the neckline way too taut and too high and stuffed into very narrow grosgrain ribbon. Not a good idea. I had to bite the bias bullet and do what it said on the tin.

Not sure that I will escape adding the suggested fourth button as it’s a bit droopy at the top there. I’m also not sure that I will return to this pattern. If I did, it would have to be in another sheer or at least very fluid fabric. You see, it’s roomy/casual/fashionably loose even after having cut a 6 with no seam allowances. I haven’t been a 6 on the hips since I was 6. If it were constructed in anything other than fabric with terrific drape it would hang like a sack on the lowliest of house elves. Something I fear muchly in my home-crafted garb.
And for the gardeners and botanists amongst you, a Paperwhite update:

And WordPress? Love the updates to the media library and general photo mangling. Not so sure about the snow that I’ve chosen to inflict upon my site. Looks a little like dandruff.
I love yours! Please don’t pour strange liquid down the front like I think she is threatening to do!
I imagine it’s polyjuice potion or something equally destructive to clothing 😉
So many garments have I lost to such….
Your snow is cute, and I love the fabric you have used for the tunic, very pretty!
Thanks! I do quite like the snow although I worry it’s just a little twee 🙂 Loving the fabric of the tunic, right up my transparent street. Just need to work out what to wear it with and if I can get away with it at work, hmm.
